Job summary

Rehabilitation Hospital of Wisconsin is seeking a Receptionist to support front-office operations and help maintain a professional welcome for patients, visitors and staff. This is a PER DIEM position with no guaranteed hours; coverage is as needed, offering flexibility and the chance to pick up hours when shifts arise.

Primary duties include answering and routing calls, assisting with documents in Word/Excel, supporting leadership with projects, and upholding a courteous, organized hospital

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in an administrative or receptionist role preferred.
  • Proficient with computers and basic software tools.
  • Customer service experience or aptitude to work with patients and staff.
  • Able to work independently and remain organized.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and transfer incoming calls promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with preparing documents using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Provide administrative support to leadership for projects.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor representing the hospital to visitors and staff.
  • Stay organized and perform duties with good judgment.

What we're looking for:

The Receptionist is responsible for managing incoming calls, supporting administrative staff, and maintaining a professional front-facing presence for the hospital. This role is essential to the smooth flow of communication and operations within the facility.

This is a PER DIEM position, which means there are no guaranteed hours. You would work as needed to provide reception coverage when shifts become available. There may be opportunities to pick up a significant number of hours from month to month, so we are seeking someone with flexibility.

How You'll Contribute
  • Answer and transfer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally.
  • Assist coworkers with preparing documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows-based systems.
  • Provide administrative support to the leadership team for miscellaneous projects.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance to represent the hospital to board members, medical staff, visitors, and the community.
  • Stay organized and carry out duties independently, using sound judgment and analytical skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education:High School diploma or GED required.

  • Experience: Previous experience in an administrative or receptionist role preferred; student experience in higher education considered.

  • Proficient in use of computers.

  • Customer service experience or aptitude to be able to deal tactfully with patients, physicians, visitors and the general public.

  • Team oriented, positive attitude and take imitative during down time.

  • Ability to work independently and use downtime productively.

Schedule: PRN work as needed.
