Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and visitors at the program and ascertain visit purpose.
  • Answer and screen incoming calls professionally and gather accurate information.
  • Monitor waiting room for health and safety of clients and staff.
  • Provide administrative support to staff as directed by Borough Director.
  • Open, sort and distribute mail; triage support for program participants.
  • Data entry for Court Programs into the database as needed.
  • Create organizational spreadsheets and documents to ensure coverage across programs.
  • Provide culturally competent services in line with CASES policies.

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a responsible and dependable Receptionist to work with our Pretrial Services Department. As a Receptionist, you will be responsible for greeting and providing a pleasant experience to all who enter our Harlem Pretrial Office. The duties and responsibilities of the receptionist will require someone who is empathetic, a great communicator, and extremely organized. They will support our Supervised Release Program participants and staff by ensuring efficient coverage at our front desk and additional duties to contribute to the success of our program.

CASES’ Supervised Release Program (SRP) annually diverts 7,500 people otherwise facing pretrial detention at Rikers Island to community-based supervision and support services. Program participants include youth and young adults, people with substance use disorders and mental illnesses, and individuals who are homeless. SRP participants have not been found guilty of a crime and are not mandated to engage in treatment or other services. This requires staff to tactfully deliver approaches to help participants tap into their intrinsic motivation to leverage their strengths and skills for meaningful life improvements while fulfilling all court requirements.

Salary:

The salary forthe Receptionist position is $45,619 per year.

Shift Hours:

The Receptionistposition isfull time from Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.

Workplace Flexibility:

The Receptionist position is an In-person position. S taff roles designated as fully in person are eligible for in- person work place differential pay.

What you will be doing:
  • Greet clients and all visitors to the program and ascertain purpose of visit
  • Answer and screens incoming calls in a professional manner while aiding and obtaining accurate information
  • Monitor the waiting room to ensure the health and safety of clients and staff is maintained
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to staff as instructed by Borough Director.
  • Open, sort and distribute mail
  • Provide triage support and direct assistance to program participants as needed
  • May perform data entry for Court Programs into the database as needed, ensuring accuracy, as instructed by the Borough Director.
  • Create organizational spreadsheets, charts, or other documents to help ensure efficient coverage across programs.
  • Provide culturally competence services in accordance with CASES policies and procedures
  • Any other duties as required by supervisory and executive staff
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Borough Director.
What we are looking for:
  • High school diploma or GED/HSE or Associate’s degreewith 2-3 years of work experience.

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications (MS Word, Excel), experience with PowerPoint
