Job summary

CASES is seeking a Program Assistant for our Pretrial Services Department to provide administrative, fiscal, and billing support. You will work closely with the Borough Director to ensure smooth program operations and timely communications with participants and partners.

The role requires strong organization, effective communication, attention to confidentiality, and the ability to work independently in a hybrid setting. A 9-5 schedule keeps operations steady and compliant.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or High School Diploma/HSE with 2-3 years' experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monthly order and delegation of phones including maintaining relationship with phone vendor.
  • Receive and screen telephone calls and answer program inquiries via phone, email and mail.
  • Provide triage support and direct assistance to program participants as needed.
  • Assist with the scheduled system of appointment reminders to ensure timely notifications.
  • Perform data entry to enroll participants in Supervised Release and update database.
  • Enter participant data into the database including track and compliance information.
  • Prepare compliance documentation for District Attorney’s Alternative Sentencing Office and courts.
  • Complete any other tasks as required by the Program Director and supervisory staff.

Job Title: Program Assistant

Job Summary: CASES is currently seeking a Program Assistant for our Pretrial Services Department. T he Program Assistant is an integral staff member providing administrative, fiscal, and billing support. The Program Assistant ensures the team's smooth and effective functioning by working closely with the Borough Director and additional program staff to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of program activities. We are looking for someone who is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of individuals involved in the criminal justice system. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Program Description: CASES’ Supervised Release Program (SRP) annually diverts 7,500 people otherwise facing pretrial detention at Rikers Island to community-based supervision and support services. Program participants include youth and young adults, people with substance use disorders and mental illnesses, and individuals who are homeless. SRP participants have not been found guilty of a crime and are not mandated to engage in treatment or other services. This requires staff to tactfully deliver approaches to help participants tap into their intrinsic motivation to leverage their strengths and skills for meaningful life improvements while fulfilling all court requirements.

Shift Hours: This position is full-time Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Salary: The salary for this role is $49,173 per year

Location Address: 25 Chapel Street,11th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.

Workplace Flexibility: Hybrid - (for roles that have one day remote)

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Monthly Order and delegation of phones including maintaining relationship with phone vendor
  • Receive and screen telephone calls and answer program inquiries via phone, email and mail
  • Provide triage support and direct assistance to program participants as needed
  • As assigned by program leadership, assist with the scheduled system of appointment reminders, to help ensure participants receive timely notification of upcoming supervision contacts and court appearances
  • Perform data entry to enroll participants in Supervised Release, including legal information, demographic information, enter appointment attendance and other program information into the database as needed, ensuring accuracy
  • Enter participant data into the database including pretrial supervision track, compliance with supervision appointments, re-arrest information, and case outcome
  • Complete and prepare for submission compliance documentation needed for the District Attorney’s Alternative Sentencing Office, judges, and the Criminal and Supreme Court Compliance and All-Purpose Parts
  • Complete any other tasks as required by the Program Director and supervisory staff
