Summary:

To oversee activities over the materials and receiving group within the warehouse. The role requires him or her to be knowledgeable in how to lead and manage people. Conduct administrative tasks to promote organized and efficient work processes and do his or her work in the most cost-effective manner possible.

Essential Functions or Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages the activities of teammates in the warehouse including but not limited to receiving, putting away, picking and delivering materials for production, maintaining computerized inventory control over every product movement and confirming inventory levels and accuracy through accurate receipts and material movements. The role requires him or her to be knowledgeable in how to lead and manage people, maintain inventory in a computerized inventory system, conduct administrative tasks to promote organized and efficient work processes, and to perform his or her work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Assigns duties and establishes work schedules to ensure warehouse activities are assigned effectively and completed accurately.
  • Ensures that all warehouse activities are completed regularly and in a timely manner.
  • Investigates problems within warehouse operations in order identify possible root causes and effect corrective action.
  • Develop and implement strategies and procedures for improving warehouse operations and ensure that they are performed in an accurate, timely and consistent manner.
  • Follows safety procedures and uses good operational and safety judgment to ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety rules.
  • Communicates issues and status of warehouse operations to management and leads in resolving any issues.
  • Follows all existing company policies and procedures.
  • Retrieves and analyzes reports essential to the job.
  • May perform more complicated parts transactions.
  • Communicates effectively and efficiently with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Maintains communication and strong working relationships with other departments, including accounting, manufacturing, quality, sales, shipping and purchasing.
  • Communicate with Purchasing and Quality departments to provide alerts regarding non-conforming material discovered in the warehouse and offer insights into how this may impact production operations.
  • Must be detailed and process-oriented
  • Work closely with the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor to provide leadership for conducting Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual and Annual inventories.
  • Safely operate various pieces of warehouse equipment (company vehicles, forklifts, power tools, etc.).
  • Actively participate as a member of the team to move the team towards completion of goals.
  • Takes the initiative to find, identify and propose changes to processes needing improvement.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Skills:

Required:

  • Certified Forklift Driver
  • Proficient understanding of basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • One or more years of leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Familiar with the Epicor system
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills
  • Possess analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Must pass a background check and drug test
  • Demonstrates the ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions and solve problems immediately.
  • Ability to be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Shows the ability to work well under pressure, such as when inventory deliveries or shipments become late or forgotten.
  • Must be detailed and process-oriented.
  • Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills; displays reading comprehension skills.
  • Exhibits the ability to work well with others and maintain organization between cross-related departments.


Preferred:

  • At least two years of warehouse experience preferred.


Safety/Physical requirements:

  • Able to adapt to all weather conditions
  • Overtime possibility during peak seasons.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Requires bending, stooping and standing
  • Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day. (Overtime may extend the time period.)
  • Good visual and spatial perception.
  • Follow established safety policies, including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.
