Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in California seeks a Receiving Inspector II contractor to perform detailed dimensional and visual inspections of purchased parts and assemblies. You will document findings, adapt inspection procedures, and contribute to quality assurance throughout incoming, in-process, and final stages.

Required are 2–4 years of mechanical inspection experience, familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100, and ability to read drawings with GD&T. Travel to supplier sites within 100 miles may be needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training preferred.
  • 2–4 years of mechanical inspection experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 requirements.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges and optical comparator.
  • Ability to read drawings and interpret geometric tolerancing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed dimensional and visual inspections on parts, materials and assemblies.
  • Document inspection findings and produce reports establishing acceptance or rejection.
  • Determine methods and procedures necessary for inspection.
  • Travel to supplier sites within 100 miles as required.
  • Work on moderately difficult assignments with judgement and initiative.

Inspection involves using tools such as; calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparator, and moreWorks from drawings, sketches and specifications. Adapts inspection measuring devices and procedures where necessaryDocuments inspection findings and produces the necessary documentation/reports, establishing acceptance or rejectionDetermines or assists in determining methods, sequences and procedures necessary for inspectionWorks on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendationsOther duties as assignedBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
