Job summary

Royal Cup, Inc. in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Receiving Coordinator to supervise unloading of green coffee and tea and to enter receipts into the system accurately. You will coordinate truck scheduling and interface with carriers to ensure timely deliveries.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, certified lift truck operation, and the ability to read, write and perform basic math. Prior warehouse experience is preferred, with training provided on GMPs and safety procedures.

  • Lift truck certification required or able to obtain certification via Royal Cup.

  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and use basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Unload and identify green coffee/tea by bag type and origin.
  • Enter material receipts into computer system with accuracy.
  • Schedule trucks and coordinate with carriers to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Maintain receiving area in a clean, orderly, and GMP-compliant state.
  • Follow safety procedures and GMPs, and adhere to company policies.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Receiving Coordinator reports to the Production Manager and has the primary responsibility of ensuring the timely unloading of green coffee & tea and the accurate computer entry of material receipts. This position assumes responsibility for the scheduling of trucks and will have major interaction with carious carriers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • None
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The ability to identify green coffee by bag type and /or country of origin.
  • The safe and effective operation of the following equipment:
    • “Strong-Arm” pneumatic manipulator as used in the unloading of green coffee.
    • An industrial standing lift truck.
    • A industrial electrical hoist.
  • Accurately operate a floor scale system including the tare function to arrive at an accurate weight.
  • Accurately enter material information, including STO numbers and bag marks, into the HMI control screens.
  • Transport and dispose all refuse in the proper compactor.
  • Maintain the receiving area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion. Keep the area “Tour-Ready.” Follow the established sanitation schedule.
  • Follow all established GMP's.
  • Carry out all assigned tasks in a safe and proper manner.
  • Always be mindful of and adhere to GMP’s, Quality, and Food Safety requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma and/or equivalent (ie. GED).
  • Must have a good attendance record.
  • Must be a certified lift truck operator for both standing & pallet jack lifts or be able to train and acquire proper certification (through Royal Cup’s Lift Truck Certification Program) to prove safe operation.
  • Must have basic reasoning abilities, to include:
    • Applying common sense in carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Ability, beyond basic skill performance levels with Reading, Writing, Mathematical & Computer Functions, to include:
    • Ability to read, write and interpret basic correspondence, including machine operating instructions, safety instructions and any training materials.
    • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract and multiply using units of American currency and weight measurement, volume and distance.
    • Ability to operate basic office equipment: telephone system, desktop computers, fax and copy machines.
    • Basic inputs via keyboard, touch screen and bar code scans into computer system.
  • Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to safely climb in and out of a motorized forklift, up and down a ladder and stairs.
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use hand tools and fingering/handling to operate buttons/levers of equipment.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 100lbs of force, and lift up to 35lbs and up to 154lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to carry tools up to 10lbs.
  • Ability stoop, kneel, crouch, squat and other movements as required to reach bags of coffee beans from ground level, attach air hoses, adjust loading dock and/or to load bags of coffee beans.
  • Ability reach forward up to 40’’ and overhead up to 76’’ high to access equipment, machinery, or product.
  • Ability to balance or walk on uneven surfaces.

Frequently working near production machinery and occasionally near hand jacks or forklifts.

Frequently working in an environment with variable temperatures.
