Job summary

DSG-Canusa is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Clerk to support Mattr’s operations on the shop floor. The role emphasizes safe, efficient handling of shipments and timely movement of goods, with coordination of carriers and customers.

You will prepare required documentation, adhere to HSE policies, and participate in continuous improvement while maintaining a clean, organized workspace and proper PPE usage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least three years of warehouse experience in shipping/receiving.
• Knowledge of road and rail transportation rules and regulations.
• Strong sense of urgency with a proven track record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Formal HSE/SMS training is an asset.
• Post-secondary education, or awaiting accreditation, is considered an asset.
• Ability to work around moving mechanical parts with moderate-to-high noise.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shipping/receiving operations following HSE policies.
• Help achieve monthly shipping targets.
• Receive goods and distribute to the accounting department.
• Identify quality issues and respond to prevent misses.
• Schedule carriers and ensure compliant product transit and delivery.
• Communicate with internal and external customers on requests.
• Prepare daily documentation (BOLs, customs, ocean freight).
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain 5S in the work area.
• Operate equipment safely.
• Train new/junior employees on safety and efficiency.

Impact of this Role

The Shipping/Receiving Clerk supports Mattr’s operational excellence by helping drive the daily execution of shipping and receiving activities. Working on the shop floor, this role supports safe operations, achievement of DSG shipping targets, timely movement of incoming goods, and effective coordination of product transportation and delivery.

What Success Looks Like

• Provide daily support and oversight of Shipping/Receiving operations while adhering to Mattr HSE policies and supporting IIF status.
• Help achieve monthly DSG shipping targets.
• Receive goods and ensure timely distribution to the accounting department.
• Identify quality-related issues and respond promptly to prevent or minimize missed performance targets.
• Schedule carriers to customers in a timely manner and ensure compliance with policies and procedures for product transit and delivery.
• Communicate with internal and external customers to address specific customer requests.
• Prepare required daily documentation, including BOLs, customs documentation, and ocean freight documentation.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain the work area using 5S principles.
• Operate equipment safely and effectively.
• As required, train new and/or junior employees with an emphasis on safe, efficient, quality-minded work.

What You Bring to the Role

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least three years of practical warehouse experience executing shipping and receiving activities efficiently and safely.
• Knowledge of road and rail transportation rules and regulations, including considerations such as weight distribution and height restrictions.
• Strong sense of urgency and a good quality track record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Formal HSE or SMS training is considered an asset.
• Post-secondary education, or awaiting accreditation, is considered an asset.
• Ability to work in an environment frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles, with moderate-to-high noise levels.
