Job summary

Halperns' Steak & Seafood in Fort Lauderdale, FL is hiring a Receiver (Forklift Operator) to join our warehouse team. The role involves receiving and logging goods, moving items with a forklift, and ensuring accuracy against purchase orders. Training for forklift operation is provided, with USDA-relevant responsibilities for cold storage.

Starting pay is $17/hour. The schedule runs 8:00am to finish, with responsibilities including inventory control, damage checks and proper packaging rotation.

Responsibilities

• Perform returns and rotate coolers/freezers as needed.

Pay: Starting at $17/hr.

Schedule: 8:00am to Finish

Position Summary:

Receives, logs and issue materials to stockroom, warehouse or designated location.

Essential Functions:

• Checks goods received against bills of lading or purchase orders.
• Checks goods for damage and expiration dates.
• Identify and account for all histamine products (seafood only).
• Sorts, counts and checks received items.
• Maintains required clerical records.
• Operates warehouse equipment as needed to move goods to storage area and place in designated location.
• Identify damaged packaging and/or possible cross contaminated product.
• Perform returns.
• Maintain and rotate cooler and freezer (USDA only).
• Inventory control (USDA only).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Must be able to work independently or within a team environment.
• Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.
• Ability to operate powered industrial vehicle (PIV)

Equipment / Tools / Technology:

• Must be able to understand the basic functions of a Radio Frequency handheld computer.
• Pallet jack, hand trucks
• Shrink wrap/stretch wrap equipment
• Box cutter
• Internet, email, and other applications
• Knowledge of WMS RF system of inventory
• Ability to operate powered industrial vehicle (PIV)

Educational & Experience Requirements:

• No previous experience needed.
• Forklift certification must be obtained upon hire and maintained during employment certification or license.
• High School / Equivalent preferred.
