Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a highly skilled backend engineer to design, develop, and operate real-time ad serving systems at scale. You will build low-latency services in a cloud environment and collaborate across product, engineering, and infrastructure to deliver impact.

You will work on algorithmic search, ML/NLP, and AI to improve candidate retrieval, with a focus on privacy and reliability in a fast-moving setting. Strong coding skills and cross-team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with Go, Java, Rust, C++, or Scala in production systems.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating scalable micro-services.
• Experience with search technologies and NoSQL datastores.
• Proficiency with data processing technologies like Kafka, Spark, Flink.
• Experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent communication across cross-functional teams.
• Ability to deliver end-to-end systems independently or in teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement low-latency ad-serving systems at internet scale.
• Build micro-services and data platforms to support high data volumes and QPS.
• Design secure, scalable data pipelines for petabyte-scale datasets.
• Apply ML/NLP/AI techniques to improve candidate retrieval and ranking.
• Collaborate with indexing, search, and operations teams on requirements.
• Mentor engineers, participate in code reviews, and ensure production quality.
• Stay current with advances in search, distributed systems, ML/AI, and cloud infra.
