Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering an internship for Electrical Engineering students to support the Transmission Control Center and Real Time Planning. The role provides exposure to outage coordination, powerflow studies, and real-time issue resolution while working with engineering staff.

The position starts May 24, 2027, with possible extension based on performance and business needs. Candidates must be enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program and able to work full-time in summer and part-time

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher
• Enrolled in accredited college pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) / part time during the school year (16 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per hybrid policy.

Responsibilities

• The intern will work as an entry level engineer supporting the team.
• Through practical experience and mentoring, gain experience in simple power flow studies for planned transmission outages, line loading reviews, and restoration planning.
