Job summary

CenterPoint Energy in Indiana is seeking a Transmission System Operator to manage the electric transmission system in real time, in compliance with FERC, NERC, RFC, and DOE requirements. The operator directs actions to ensure stable and reliable operation, and coordinates with MISO on outages and remedial actions.

This role requires accurate EMS analysis, voltage control, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain NERC RC level certification.
• Knowledge of power flows, voltage control, and EMS tools.
• Ability to make complex operational decisions under pressure.
• Ability to work in emergencies and provide clear guidance.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to transmission/substation status changes and alarms.
• Coordinate with MISO Reliability Coordinator on outages and actions.
• Direct field switching to ensure safety.
• Analyze EMS data and monitor system voltage.
• Provide timely emergency responses and contingency planning.
• Maintain logs of system activities.
