Job summary

LILT is hiring a Backend Engineer for the Create team to build the real-time translation pipeline and backend services powering Converse integration. You will define API contracts, support event-driven routing, and collaborate with frontend teams to deliver a scalable backend for live meetings.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in backend roles, experience with REST/GraphQL, and strong CI/CD practices. This full-time role is based in the United States with US citizenship required.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience building REST endpoints and streaming services (WebSockets, gRPC, MQ).
• Proficient in Node.js/TypeScript, Java, or Python.
• Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs and authentication patterns.
• Relational and NoSQL data modeling for session state and transcripts.
• Strong CI/CD and automated integration/e2e tests.
• US citizenship and residence in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services powering the real-time translation pipeline.
• Define APIs and services for the host meeting platform and interpreter workbench.
• Implement event-driven routing and on-call interpreter escalation.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated tests.
• Instrument observability with logs, metrics, and tracing for latency-sensitive sessions.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to align API contracts with live UI.
• Participate in on-call rotation and triage production issues.
