Job summary

LILT is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the Converse expansion, owning architecture for the real‑time translation service and customer surfaces. You will work with Product, Design, and early partners to shape the streaming pipeline and live meeting experience, building scalable, high‑reliability systems.

You will also extend the translation platform to new devices/form factors, define engineering standards, and guide CI/CD and testing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional full‑stack software engineering with real‑time/streaming systems ownership.
• Backend experience with REST APIs, WebSockets, gRPC, and low‑latency transport.
• Frontend experience with React/TypeScript for complex, real‑time UIs.
• Experience integrating with platform SDKs or extension frameworks (Slack/Zoom or similar).
• Comfort with ASR/MT/NLP pipelines or latency‑sensitive ML-in-the-loop systems.
• Ability to translate ambiguous 0‑to‑1 product requirements into a technical plan.
• Experience building validation/guard logic across languages/devices.
• US citizenship and residence in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and technical roadmap for the Converse expansion, including RTC service and surfaces.
• Build low-latency translation pipeline: per‑participant audio, diarization, streaming ASR, MT, and fan‑out.
• Develop live meeting UX — bot participant, side panel, and on‑stage caption surfaces.
• Create interpreter workbench with real‑time edits, TM/TB matching, and AI signals.
• Design event‑driven correction and broadcast flow for language‑specific segments.
• Collaborate with Product/Design to turn PRD into technical designs and milestones.
• Align with device/mobile team to extend shared architecture across platforms.
• Establish testing, CI/CD, and release practices for the new product line.
• Help recruit, mentor, and set engineering standards as headcount scales.
