Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Aurora, Colorado is seeking a Satellite Systems Engineer to join our real-time mission operations team. You will conduct flight operations during readiness, execution and evaluation, develop plans for orbital dynamics, and help control on-orbit satellites.

The role covers vehicle, ground, mission, and system engineering functions, with emphasis on software tools, telemetry analysis, and troubleshooting to maintain mission support across multiple groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM.
• Experience with on-orbit spacecraft or satellite flight operations.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a group and self-initiate learning.
• Familiarity with listed software/tools (Linux, MATLAB, Java, C++, Perl, Oracle/SQL, HTML, XML, scripting).

Responsibilities

• Conducts mission operations in real time during readiness, execution and evaluation phases.
• Develops detailed plans and procedures for orbital dynamics, satellite performance analysis, and command and control of on-orbit satellites.
• Provides technical direction for on-orbit mission support and plans for malfunctions.
• Performs telemetry-based failure analysis and software performance validation.
• Utilizes system software to perform spacecraft control tasks and supports software/tool improvements.
