Job summary

Luminant Energy Company LLC in Irving, Texas seeks an experienced powerplant operations professional to monitor and direct real-time generation assets in alignment with market requirements. The role emphasizes optimized dispatch, energy storage strategies, and coordination with DA/ISO teams to ensure reliable and economical operation.

The ideal candidate has experience in MISO/CAISO markets, understanding of ISO market rules, and a track record of managing generation output and outages.

Qualifications

• 3 years experience in powerplant operations, dispatch, trading or commodity risk management.
• NERC Certification is a plus.
• Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and executes RT strategy with DA Traders.
• Creates, submits and adjusts hourly Energy Offer Curves to optimize portfolio.
• Monitors real time position and coordinates DA Traders to material changes based on unit status and ratings.
• Continuously monitors generation requirements and generation output levels to meet real-time obligations.
• Monitors gas burn and coordinates gas needs with Gas Desk to optimize offers.
• Analyzes and executes optimal energy storage and battery strategy.
• Ensures fleet runs at the most cost-effective level via GCS.
• Communicates with Transmission Operator on reliability requests for bulk transmission.
• Coordinates with transmission team congestion/constraints for real time strategy changes.
• Interfaces with plant personnel for unit start/stop times and current status.
• Ensures ancillary service obligations and deployments are met.
• Coordinates testing and maintenance with Operations; submits outage tickets to ISO and communicates unit status.
