Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory seeks a Staff Research Scientist assigned to the DIII-D tokamak facility in San Diego, CA. The role focuses on real-time plasma exhaust monitoring, state estimation, and feedback-control within the Plasma Control System, leveraging physics-based and AI approaches.

Qualifications

  • PhD in plasma physics, nuclear engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with real-time diagnostic development and PCS application deployment.
  • Experience with AI/ML in real-time diagnostics and control.
  • Experience leading experimental sessions across multiple fusion devices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy real-time feedback-control on DIII-D for plasma exhaust control.
  • Integrate high-resolution diagnostics and imaging into PCS.
  • Lead real-time diagnostic and control activities on KSTAR and other devices.
  • Publish talks, posters and refereed articles with results.
