Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. in Westford, MA is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to lead design, development, and testing of embedded software for fire-detection systems.

You will work with senior engineers, hardware designers, and quality teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software through the product lifecycle. The role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field and 0–3 years of embedded software experience with C/C++, embedded Linux, and RTOS environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 0–3 years of embedded software experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and real-time embedded environments.
• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded software for fire detection systems.
• Develop software for microcontrollers, processors, and real-time systems.
• Participate in architecture reviews, coding standards, and tests.
• Create unit, integration, and system-level tests and documentation.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems teams to integrate software components.
• Support debugging with oscilloscopes, JTAG, and related tools.
