Job summary

Mach Industries in Huntington Beach, CA, is seeking a Firmware Engineer to advance embedded systems for aerospace applications. You will design, prototype, and test firmware for control and operation of our weapons-grade platforms, collaborating with hardware and software teams.

Ideal candidates have a BS or MS in software or CS, 3+ years in embedded development, and proficiency in C/C++/Rust with RTOS. on-site work, US security eligibility required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years experience working on embedded systems for aerospace applications.
• Proficiency in C/C++/Rust for embedded systems.
• Experience using RTOS.
• Proven experience in embedded software development and prototyping, preferably in a product development setting.
• Hands‑on experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems.
• Solid fundamentals of the entire software development life‑cycle, including architecture, design, development, deployment and support of complex software systems.
• Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and take initiative to propose and implement solutions that enhance efficiency, quality and overall project success.
• Contribute to agile project planning and task generation, including communicating risks, issues and blockers.

Responsibilities

• Software System Design: firmware for control and operation of embedded systems in weapons applications.
• Prototyping and Testing: sourcing components, firmware specs, system integration, and troubleshooting.
• Embedded Systems Controls: implement control algorithms for precise movement and operation.
• Collaboration: work with cross-functional teams to integrate designs into the broader project scope.
• Hardware Interaction: coordinate with hardware engineers for software-hardware communication.
• Continuous Learning: stay updated on embedded tech to bring innovative solutions.
• Quality Assurance: ensure software designs meet industry and defense standards.
• Documentation: maintain detailed records of designs, specs, and testing protocols.
