Job summary

Parallel Systems is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop real-time software for autonomous rail vehicles. You will work on bare-metal and RTOS-based systems, interfacing with sensors and control hardware to support safe vehicle operation.

This early-career role focuses on building strong foundations in embedded software, hardware-software integration, and real-time systems, with hands-on experience on production hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience programming in C, C++, Rust or similar systems languages.
• Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, or RTOS.
• Understanding of SPI, I2C, UART, CAN protocols.
• Knowledge of state machines, interrupts and memory management.
• Hands-on hardware/software debugging experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software for bare-metal and RTOS systems.
• Implement and test SPI, I2C, UART and CAN protocols.
• Work with hardware teams to integrate and debug interfaces.
• Write memory-efficient embedded code, primarily in Rust.
• Develop unit and integration tests on production hardware.
• Participate in code reviews and engineering process improvements.
