Job summary

STR is a growing technology company active in defense, intelligence, and national security. The Senior DevOps Engineer will build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for embedded real-time systems, spanning multi-language projects and distribution across multiple sites.

You will enable rapid prototyping, automate builds, and ensure secure, scalable deployments. The role requires strong Linux/embedded Linux expertise, proficiency with GitLab CI/Jenkins, Python/Bash scripting, and container tech

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience for BS, 3+ years for MS, 1+ year for PhD in related roles.
• Strong Linux system administration experience and embedded Linux environments.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms (GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar).
• Scripting skills in Bash or Python; containerization with Docker/Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for multi-language, multi-platform projects.
• Establish and maintain containerized development and deployment environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Implement automated build systems for C/C++ and Python codebases (CMake, Conan, Make).
• Create and maintain automated testing frameworks (unit/integration/system tests).
• Implement security scanning and vulnerability assessment tools in CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage version control workflows and branching strategies (Git).
• Configure GitLab runners, build agents, testing infra across multiple sites.
• Develop scripts and tools to automate software deployment to embedded and distributed systems.
• Monitor build health, test coverage, code quality metrics, and system performance.
• Support developers across teams resolving build/dependency issues and document processes.
• Collaborate with software, systems, security, IT, and integration teams; travel ~20%.
