Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join the LEAP group in the MacCready Works division. You will develop computer vision and ML capabilities for real-time target recognition on diverse sensor platforms and support data collection, labeling, training, and validation activities.

Travel domestically and internationally is expected. The role requires a BS in a relevant field, 2+ years in ML/vision, and strong Python/C++ skills with PyTorch, OpenCV, and Nvidia toolchains.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related Science/Engineering with 2+ years in ML/vision
• 2–5 years of relevant computer vision experience
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++
• Experience with deep learning frameworks, preferably PyTorch
• Familiarity with Linux and Nvidia tools (CUDA, JetPack, TensorRT) and deployment to Nvidia GPUs
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and optimize algorithms
• Ability to perform exploratory data analysis on large datasets

Responsibilities

• Develop CV/ML algorithms for object detection, classification, localization, and tracking for defense and commercial use
• Perform data science to inform data collection, labeling, and training of models
• Train, validate, and optimize models and data representations
• Write and test software to integrate ML algorithms into aircraft or other systems
• Support experimentation and fielded systems with significant travel
