Job summary

Lone Star College-System Office seeks a part-time Transcriptionist to provide real-time captioning in classrooms and events for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and staff. The role requires TypeWell or CART qualifications, a strong command of English, and the ability to work evenings and weekends across the LSC service area.

Responsibilities include collaborating with faculty, preparing for sessions, and setting up captioning equipment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Completion of TypeWell training or CART qualifications is required.
• Reliable transportation to travel between assignments within the service area.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time captioning in classrooms and events.
• Coordinate with faculty to prepare for sessions.
• Research terminology to understand vocabulary in use.
• Ensure confidentiality and professional communication with stakeholders.
• Setup and manage captioning equipment at various locations.
• Participate in department meetings and share improvement ideas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
