Zusammenfassung

Merlin in Boston, MA seeks a hands-on systems software engineer for the Virtual Test Environments team. You will own real-time I/O software for aircraft integration benches, developing modern C++ on embedded Linux and building hardware abstraction layers with UEI PowerDNA.

You will integrate ARINC 429, CAN, and serial I/O per ICD, develop Rust services for telemetry, and ensure robust UDP/TCP networking, data replay, and automated testing across Yocto, CMake, and Docker pipelines.

Aufgaben

• Own the architecture, development, and sustainment of real-time I/O software and telemetry infrastructure supporting integration benches.
• Develop modern C++ software on embedded Linux targets to interface with avionics hardware and simulation models.
• Develop and maintain hardware abstraction layers using UEI PowerDNA equipment and device drivers.
• Integrate ARINC 429, CAN, serial and discrete I/O per ICD; validate encoding, mapping, and error handling.
• Develop and maintain asynchronous Rust services ingesting telemetry sources and streaming data to displays.
• Implement robust binary protocols and networking (UDP/TCP, ZeroMQ) considering loss, ordering, and liveness.
• Build capabilities for timestamp alignment, session recording, and simulation replay for reproducible integration issues.
• Maintain cross-compilation, packaging, and deployment workflows for ARM Linux targets and Linux hosts (Yocto, CMake, Debian, Docker).
• Automate verification via unit tests, hardware integration tests, parser fuzzing, and Python-based tooling.
• Collaborate with avionics and flight-test engineers to reproduce lab integration conditions across software and hardware.
