Job summary

Grantek is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to develop real-time automation solutions from plant floor to enterprise level. You will work with PLC/PAC programming, HMI, SCADA, network design, database design, and vision systems, interfacing with major automation platforms.

You will collaborate with a team of engineers and designers, travel up to 30–50% to client sites, and report to the Richmond, VA office. A strong background in mechatronics and programming is expected.

Qualifications

Completion of a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Academic or work experience with the listed technologies used in the role.
Meticulous, conscientious, analytical, and a quick learner.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valid Driver’s License.
Full-time access to a personal vehicle.
Located in Central Virginia or Maryland.
Willingness to travel 30-50% (VA, MD, PA, NJ, DE).
Employee will report to Grantek's Richmond, VA office.

Responsibilities

Engineering and implementing real-time automation controls and information solutions.
Conceptualizing during the design phase of the project life cycle.
System programming, debugging, and testing.
Creating documentation, project notes, proposals, and design traceability.
Commissioning new solutions at client sites; identifying improvement opportunities.
Developing methodologies and solving complex problems.
Learning new technologies.
Mentoring colleagues and sharing knowledge.
