Job summary

City of Racine seeks an experienced real estate appraiser to perform assessments and valuations for annual revaluations. The role requires field inspections, data validation, and clear communication with property owners to explain assessments.

Successful candidates will hold an Associate degree in real estate or related field, and either possess or be able to obtain Wisconsin Assessor II certification within six months.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in real estate or property assessments, and one-year assessor duties (or five years in lieu).
  • Current certification by Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue at Assessor II or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Perform appraisal and assessment work to value real property and establish uniform assessments.
  • Physically inspect properties to determine market value using cost, income, and market approaches.
  • Maintain assessment records and validate sales data for reporting to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
  • Answer inquiries from the public regarding assessments and property information with excellent service.
  • Stay current in appraisal techniques via state seminars and industry resources.
