Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Illinois seeks an Assistant Director of Real Estate Operations & Transactions to lead end-to-end lease lifecycle management, supervise multi-state portfolio activities, and coordinate with Ambulatory Development, Facilities, Accounting, and Legal teams.

The role focuses on optimizing landlord/tenant relationships, ensuring lease compliance, and guiding market analyses, due diligence, and buildouts to support the organization's growth.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in commercial or corporate real estate.
• Undergrad degree required; master’s preferred in business, real estate, or finance.
• Knowledge of real estate documents and processes.
• Strong financial acumen with budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience negotiating real estate agreements.
• Experience managing a multi-state real estate portfolio.
• Proven leadership and change-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day real estate issues and act as primary contact between UCM users and external parties.
• Assist in end-to-end lease management including renewals, expirations, and negotiations.
• Build internal infrastructure around processes, people, and technology for portfolio management.
• Lead landlord and tenant relationship management.
• Coordinate with Facilities for timely resolution of maintenance and tenant issues.
• Lead lease compliance from monetary and non-monetary perspectives with internal stakeholders.
