A leading global law firm is seeking an experienced Real Estate Finance Paralegal to join its highly regarded New York Real Estate practice. The firm is known for handling sophisticated, high-profile transactions and advising prominent lenders, borrowers, developers, investors, private equity firms and financial institutions.
This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team of accomplished attorneys on complex commercial real estate financings involving a broad range of asset classes, including residential, office, retail, mixed-use, industrial and hospitality properties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist attorneys throughout all stages of commercial real estate finance transactions, from initial due diligence through closing and post-closing.
- Manage legal and due diligence checklists and monitor transaction deadlines and outstanding items.
- Review title commitments, title reports, surveys, zoning materials, organizational documents, lien searches and other property-related records.
- Identify and summarize title and survey matters, exceptions, encumbrances and potential closing issues.
- Coordinate with title companies, surveyors, lenders, borrowers, local counsel, clients and other transaction participants.
- Prepare, organize and maintain closing checklists, signature packets and closing binders.
- Draft and revise ancillary transaction documents, including signature pages, certificates, resolutions, authorizations and other supporting materials.
- Assist with Uniform Commercial Code searches, filings and continuation statements.
- Prepare and coordinate the execution and recording of mortgages, assignments, satisfactions and other real estate documents.
- Track conditions precedent and confirm that required documentation has been received and properly executed.
- Support acquisition, construction, development, refinancing, portfolio and single-asset financing transactions.
- Assist with senior, mezzanine and other secured lending matters.
- Coordinate escrow arrangements, recording requirements and document deliveries.
- Prepare and distribute final closing sets and electronic transaction binders.
- Maintain organized electronic matter files and transaction records.
- Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients and third-party service providers while managing multiple active transactions.
- Assist with additional real estate and finance-related projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience as a Real Estate Finance Paralegal within a law firm or comparable sophisticated legal environment.
- Strong knowledge of commercial real estate finance transactions, title and survey review, due diligence and closing procedures.
- Experience preparing closing checklists, signature packets and closing binders.
- Familiarity with UCC searches and filings, entity documentation and real estate recording requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document-management systems.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred.
