Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Energy Real Estate Paralegal with over eight years of experience to support attorneys on renewable energy real estate transactions. This role involves managing due diligence, drafting and reviewing legal documents, analyzing title, survey, and mineral rights matters, supporting permitting activities, and coordinating transaction closings.

The ideal candidate has experience with land acquisition, zoning, environmental and subsurface real estate issues related to utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage (BESS), and transmission or distribution projects. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are essential. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and legal research tools, along with exceptional attention to detail, is required, while oil and gas real estate experience is a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Support attorneys throughout renewable energy real estate transactions representing developers, lenders, and other project stakeholders
• Conduct comprehensive due diligence by reviewing site control agreements, title commitments, legal descriptions, mineral ownership records, permitting documentation, zoning records, and other real estate due diligence materials
• Prepare, review, and coordinate real estate transaction documents, including purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, easements, amendments, estoppel certificates, resolutions, and closing documentation
• Manage multiple transaction closings by coordinating title and survey matters, preparing closing deliverables, and assisting with financing and acquisition activities
• Analyze title reports, mineral ownership records, lease abstracts, and land use documentation to support project acquisitions and greenfield developments
• Lead due diligence efforts related to land rights, surface and subsurface ownership, permitting requirements, and project site control
• Assist with permitting activities and regulatory approvals for renewable energy developments, including environmental, wetlands, and land use requirements
• Help resolve title issues and ensure compliance with zoning regulations, environmental requirements, and land acquisition processes
• Track transaction progress, maintain organized project documentation, and manage multiple active matters across client portfolios
• Participate in practice group meetings and provide support on additional projects and special assignments as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of paralegal experience in a law firm, with a focus on energy, commercial real estate, or related transactional matters
• Strong background supporting renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, BESS, and electric transmission or distribution infrastructure
• Experience reviewing title commitments, mineral ownership records, zoning documents, permitting materials, and other real estate due diligence documentation
• Knowledge of surface and subsurface real estate, ground leases, easements, land acquisition, and purchase and sale transactions
• Familiarity with renewable energy permitting processes and applicable land use and environmental regulations
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple complex transactions and manage competing deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, title companies, and other external stakeholders
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, along with legal research platforms
• Experience supporting oil and gas or renewable energy real estate transactions involving mineral rights is highly preferred
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism
