Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a seasoned Real Estate Development Project Manager to lead residential, multifamily, and mixed-use initiatives in the New York area. You will drive planning, coordination, and execution from concept to completion, coordinating with architects, engineers, lawyers, and finance teams.

Responsibilities

Oversee planning, coordination, and execution of residential/multifamily and mixed-use projects
Support development processes from project conceptualization through completion
Oversee contracting and due diligence regarding zoning, title, environmental risk, and other development obstacles
Coordinate with consultants and municipalities, including architects and engineers, and report project progress to principals
Collaborate with legal, development, construction, Home and Hospitality, finance, and external consultant teams
Identify and mitigate project risks and propose alternative development approaches
Manage project entitlement processes, including zoning, permitting, regulatory compliance, design, due diligence, legal efforts, and community development actions
Monitor project progress, risks, issues, budgets, schedules, and quality standards; implement mitigation strategies
Create business-case justifications with internal business partners
Manage deal timelines, property standards, and budget goals
Project-manage deals in new real estate markets and determine local and regional zoning and licensing requirements
Develop and manage project plans, engage resources, monitor progress, and keep department leaders informed
Guide projects through conceptual, discovery, and execution stages
Maintain standardized reporting, filing, and project scheduling processes
Interface with public-sector clients, jurisdictions, owners, architects, engineers, design consultants, and stakeholders
Identify and implement process optimization, innovation, and sustainable practices
Monitor changes in zoning regulations, land-use policies, and environmental requirements
Complete other projects as assigned by senior leadership

Requirements

Strong background in real estate development, including market analysis, site selection, financial analysis, and project management

Strong knowledge of real estate development principles, including market analysis, financial analysis, due diligence, entitlement processes, and project management
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and Excel
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Professional certifications or affiliations in real estate development, project management, or related areas are a plus
Bachelor's degree in real estate, urban planning, architecture, business administration, or a related field, or a combination of education and/or experience
Minimum of five (5) years of professional, hands‑on real estate experience, preferably focused on multifamily, retail, and/or mixed‑use
Demonstrated ability to oversee the entire project lifecycle from concept through completion
