Job description

Representing a vertically integrated real estate investment firm with a diversified commercial and mixed-use portfolio, we are proud to be leading the search for a Real Estate Counsel. This role will take ownership of legal matters across acquisitions, development, leasing, asset management, and the firm’s broader real estate portfolio.

This is a pivotal opportunity to serve as the firm’s sole in-house attorney, working directly with senior leadership and commercial teams across a robust transaction pipeline.

As the Real Estate Counsel, you will be responsible for:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, leases, letters of intent, ground leases, reciprocal easement agreements, and build-to-suit agreements.
  • Managing legal aspects of acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, and leasing transactions across a diversified real estate portfolio.
  • Leading legal due diligence for transactions ranging from smaller acquisitions through complex transactions valued up to approximately $80 million.
  • Advising senior leadership, acquisitions, and leasing teams on transactional and day-to-day legal matters.
  • Managing corporate entities and related governance requirements across the portfolio.
  • Overseeing outside counsel and supporting the management of litigation and disputes.
  • Developing practical legal solutions that balance risk with the commercial objectives of the business.

To be successful in this role our client is looking for a:

  • Attorney with ideally 3+ years of relevant real estate transactional experience.
  • Strong background drafting and negotiating commercial real estate agreements, particularly purchase and sale agreements and leases.
  • Experience handling real estate due diligence and managing transactions from initial negotiation through closing.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of a broad range of legal matters as the organization’s sole in-house attorney.
  • Commercial and pragmatic approach, with the ability to work directly with senior decision-makers and business teams.
  • Experience gained within a law firm, in-house real estate platform, or a combination of both.

As a specialist Legal, Risk, and Compliance search and recruitment firm, we are excited to represent a role offering significant exposure to sophisticated real estate transactions and direct access to senior leadership. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded real estate attorney to join an established investment platform and take ownership of the legal function while supporting an active pipeline of acquisitions, development, and leasing transactions.

If this opportunity aligns with your experience, Please note that our client is unable to provide relocation for this role. The listed salary range serves as a guide and the salary offered within that range to the selected candidate will be based on experience, qualifications, and location.
