Job summary

ZipApply is seeking a hands-on Controller for our Real Estate & Construction portfolio in the Roswell/Sandy Springs area. You will lead accounting across multiple entities, manage the close process, and establish strong controls while bringing outsourced functions in-house.

The ideal candidate has real estate accounting experience, a solid understanding of project cost accounting, and the ability to collaborate with owners, contractors, and CPAs in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Hands-on accounting experience in real estate, construction, homebuilding, or related industry.
• Strong general ledger, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close knowledge.
• Experience with multiple related entities and intercompany activity.
• Ability to develop and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Experience working with contractors and project teams.
• CPA background is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting across multiple related entities.
• Manage monthly close and produce timely financial statements.
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Develop and maintain job costing by property and renovation project.
• Monitor budgets, contractor costs, invoices, and project profitability.
• Identify cost overruns and areas needing stronger controls.
• Provide ownership with timely reporting on properties and overall performance.
• Oversee accounting for acquisitions, renovations, sales, rentals, and lending.
• Bring outsourced accounting functions in-house and manage intercompany reporting.
• Coordinate with CPAs for tax preparation and compliance.
