Job summary

ZipApply, a growing firm, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting team from our Villa Rica, GA office. You will drive accurate financial reporting and strategic insights, partnering with ownership and operations to enhance profitability and controls.

In this role you will balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution, ensuring adherence to tax and regulatory requirements while supporting growth initiatives for a commercial contracting environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years in construction/contracting/project-based accounting.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Strong job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion knowledge.
• Experience leading teams of ~5–10 people.
• Hands-on leadership; can both manage and perform tasks.
• Proficient in Excel and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end close, reporting, budgeting, and cash flow.
• Partner with operations on job costing and profitability analysis.
• Improve processes and internal controls; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Primary financial contact for banks, auditors, and tax advisors.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
