Job summary

Merus, an established real estate firm, seeks a Real Estate Attorney to support the Associate General Counsel and development market teams through complex commercial and industrial transactions from contract to closing and disposition.

You will draft and negotiate purchase agreements, leases, financing documents, and development agreements, while reviewing titles, environmental reports, and surveys to ensure accuracy and timely decisions with paralegal and outside partners.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and a valid license to practice law.
• 2-5 years of commercial real estate law practice experience.
• Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale agreements.
• Manage and oversee the legal functions related to the acquisition and disposition of properties.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial leases, estoppels, and subordination agreements.
• Review financing agreements with lenders.
• Review title commitments and surveys, interface with paralegals, title companies, and surveyors to resolve issues.
• Review environmental reports and resolve issues.
• Draft development agreements, operating agreements, and joint venture agreements.
• Draft and negotiate construction agreements with owners.
• Research corporate and real estate law as needed.
