Job summary

McKinstry is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the full-cycle accounting function across a portfolio of real estate investment entities. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, timely close processes, and compliance with GAAP, tax, and cash-basis methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA license required; active licensure preferred.
• Minimum five years of accounting experience in a multi‑entity environment.
• Minimum two years of experience in public accounting.
• Minimum two years of experience in people leadership or management.
• In‑depth knowledge of accounting methods (accrual, tax, and cash) and ability to apply US GAAP.
• Experience supporting external audits and working with CPA/tax consultants.
• Ability to create, implement, and apply internal controls, policies, and procedures.
• Experience working with Yardi and Juniper Square.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts; process and review AP/AR; perform month‑end and year‑end close; prepare financial statements and management reports.
• Supervise and review work of accountants; design and maintain internal controls and approval workflows; manage accounting software and deadlines.
• Coordinate with external CPA firms for tax filings; prepare K‑1s; support audits and annual reporting.
• New entity setup including chart of accounts and filings; track development costs and loan draw requests.
• Miscellaneous analyses, compliance filings, and record‑keeping for entity documents.
