Job summary

Pacific Executive Search in West Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead accounting operations for a diverse real estate portfolio, ensuring GAAP-based reporting and timely month‑end close.

The role collaborates with senior finance leadership, overseeing journal entries, fixed assets, lease accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and onboarding new properties and projects in a hands‑on, results‑driven team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in full-charge bookkeeping or accounting, with exposure to corporate and property accounting.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and applying accounting standards in real estate.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex financial analysis and reporting.
• Experience with accounting software; familiarity with Yardi strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data and trends.
• Excellent communication skills to prepare clear financial summaries and collaborate across departments.
• Nice-to-Have: Public accounting with real estate clients or private company accounting involving property management.
• Nice-to-Have: Experience supporting audits and CAM reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly and year-end close activities and ensure accurate financial statements for real estate holdings.
• Record and review journal entries in the general ledger, adhering to GAAP and internal policies.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, system maintenance, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
• Collaborate with property and project managers to validate data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
• Review lease accounting entries prepared by third-party providers for tenant billings and CAM reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with detailed financial reports.
• Assist with onboarding new properties and projects, including system setup and purchase accounting support.
