Job summary

Recruithook in Boca Raton is hiring a Real Estate Accountant to own the accounting function for a growing portfolio of commercial and residential properties. This is a hands-on, property-level role with real ownership you will run the monthly close, produce owner and investor reporting, and be the go-to person for CAM reconciliations across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of real estate accounting experience (commercial required; residential/multifamily a strong plus).
• Demonstrated CAM reconciliation experience you have built them, defended them to tenants, and closed them out.
• Working knowledge of lease terms and how they drive the numbers.
• Proficiency with a property management platform (Yardi, MRI, RealPage, Entrata, AppFolio, or similar).
• Advanced Excel pivot tables, lookups, and the ability to build a clean reconciliation schedule from scratch.
• Comfort operating in a multi-entity environment with competing month-end deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own the full monthly close for an assigned portfolio of commercial and residential assets — journal entries, accruals, prepaids, intercompany, and multi-entity consolidation
• Prepare and issue annual CAM reconciliations, true-ups, and tenant billings; set and communicate monthly estimates and reconcile against actuals
• Maintain the general ledger at both property and entity level; perform bank and cash reconciliations
• Produce monthly owner reporting packages including financial statements, variance analysis, rent roll, and supporting schedules
• Manage lease-driven accounting: base rent, escalations, straight-line rent, percentage rent, recovery pools, and tenant reimbursements
• Support annual budget preparation and re-forecasting at the property level
• Oversee AP/AR workflows, tenant ledgers, delinquency tracking, and collections escalation
• Handle mortgage, escrow, and reserve account activity; prepare lender reporting and draw requests as needed
• Coordinate year-end workpapers with external CPAs; support tax filings, 1099s, and audits
• Identify and clean up process gaps this portfolio is growing and the accounting infrastructure should grow with it

We are hiring a Real Estate Accountant to own the accounting function for a growing portfolio of commercial and residential properties. This is a hands-on, property-level role with real ownership you will run the monthly close, produce owner and investor reporting, and be the go-to person for CAM reconciliations across the portfolio.

This role is a strong fit for someone who has done property accounting inside an owner/operator, property management firm, or developer and wants a seat where their work is visible to ownership rather than buried three layers down.

4 days in office / 1 day remote

What You'll Do

What You Bring
