Job description

Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where scientific rigor, cross-functional teamwork, and product quality are essential to driving innovation in genomics?

Are you ready to contribute to the next generation of sequencing solutions through expert-level formulation and quality control?

As a Reagent Formulation Scientist, you will be responsible for supporting the development, manufacturing, and quality testing of reagents and consumables used in next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows. You will play a critical role in ensuring consistency, performance, and compliance across all formulation and QC processes.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Develop, optimize, and qualify reagent formulations for short-read sequencing workflows.
  • Conduct and document QC testing of raw materials, in-process components, and final reagents to ensure lot-to-lot consistency and performance.
  • Validate reagent performance using molecular biology and analytical techniques such as spectrophotometry, PCR, and biochemical assays.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve formulation and QC issues in cross-functional collaborations with R&D, Manufacturing, and QA.
  • Support regulatory and operational standards by drafting and reviewing protocols, batch records, and QC reports in alignment with internal SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clear and accurate lab records; support data analysis and documentation for batch release.
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
  • Location: Onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters.
  • Travel: Minimal to none expected.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING US
  • Strong hands-on skills in reagent formulation, quality control, and analytical techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot scientific and technical issues independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and best practices in regulated environments (ISO 9001/13485 or GMP).
  • Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Passion for precision, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
WHAT YOUR EDUCATION LOOKS LIKE
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related life sciences field.
  • 2–5+ years of relevant experience in reagent development, QC, or analytical support—ideally within a life sciences or NGS setting.
HOW WE WILL REWARD YOU

The base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000/year dependent on experience. This position is eligible to earn incentive compensation that is calculated and paid in accordance with the applicable Compensation Plan for the role.
