As a Scientist / Senior Scientist, NGS R&D, you will drive the design, development, and optimization of novel sequencing workflows, library preparation chemistries, and targeted screening panels. Working at the intersection of molecular biology, advanced chemistry, and data science, you will collaborate across disciplines to advance new sequencing technologies from concept toward application.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Develop NGS Assays: Design and optimize novel sample arraying and sequencing workflow strategies for different applications.
- Advance Sequencing Technology: Evaluate, benchmark, and integrate emerging sequencing platforms and advanced microfluidic technologies.
- Drive Experimentation: Independently plan and execute complex laboratory experiments, troubleshoot technical challenges, and apply a rigorous, data-driven approach to optimization.
- Collaborate Across Disciplines: Partner with engineering, bioinformatics, and software teams to guide pipeline development and interpret deep sequencing data.
- Document & Protect Innovation: Maintain detailed laboratory records, develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), and contribute to intellectual property filings and regulatory submissions.
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
- Location: Work on-site at our San Jose, California location.
- Work Environment: Perform hands-on laboratory research while collaborating closely with cross-functional R&D teams.
- Travel: Occasional travel may be required based on business needs.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING US
- NGS Expertise: 0–5 years of hands‑on experience with advanced next‑generation sequencing platforms.
- Sequencing Workflow Development: 2–5 years of experience designing and optimizing novel sample arraying and sequencing workflow strategies for different applications.
- Platform & Microfluidics Experience: 2–5 years of experience evaluating, benchmarking, and integrating emerging sequencing platforms and advanced microfluidic technologies.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of surface chemistry, nucleic acid modifications, enzymatic assays, and PCR/RCR optimization.
- Scientific Research & Development: Track record of scientific research and experimental development demonstrated through publications, patents, or development of novel assays, workflows, or methods.
- Cross-Functional R&D Experience: Experience collaborating across scientific and technical disciplines on R&D projects involving sequencing workflow development, assay optimization, or platform integration.

WHAT YOUR EDUCATION LOOKS LIKE
- Education: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or a highly related life sciences discipline.
HOW WE WILL REWARD YOU
The base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and job responsibilities.
This position is eligible for an annual bonus program to recognize and reward your contributions and performance.
