Job summary

The Katherine Thomas School in Rockville, MD is seeking a Reading Teacher/Specialist to join the middle school program, delivering targeted literacy instruction using evidence-based, structured literacy practices.

The role requires experience with reading interventions tied to IEP goals and familiarity with multiple programs (Wilson, Fundations, Orton-Gillingham, Lexia, Leveled Literacy Interventions). Salary ranges from $62,000 to $85,000 annually and sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree
• Must be eligible for or have Maryland Special Education Teaching certification
• Experience working with students with learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments preferred
• Must be team oriented, reliable, and have a professional attitude
• Must have mastery of the content area
• Must have experience teaching reading strategies and study skills
• Must possess analytical abilities sufficient to implement and develop curriculum, assess student abilities, and devise Individual Educational Plans
