Job summary

The ideal candidate will hold Massachusetts certifications for Moderate Disabilities and Reading Specialist, with experience in language-based, multi-sensory approaches and familiarity with Orton-Gillingham,

Qualifications

• Massachusetts certification as Teacher of Children with Moderate Special Needs is required.
• Massachusetts certification as Reading Specialist is required.
• Experience with language-based, multi-sensory, structured, sequential reading instruction is essential.
• Certification or training in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or Lindamood Bell is preferred.
• Knowledge of computer applications for special needs students is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide reading instruction to small groups of students with diagnosed learning disabilities, focusing on decoding and fluency deficits.
• Complete reading evaluations of students as assigned.
• Participate in IEP Team meetings and assist in developing student IEPs (recommend accommodations, write goals, recommend services).
• Complete IEP progress reports for each student.
• Consult regularly with classroom and special education teachers.
• Participate in building and special education staff meetings.

-Teach reading to small groups of students with specific learning disabilities.

-Complete reading evaluation of students as assigned

-Participate in IEP Team meetings

-Assist in the development of student IEP's (recommend accommodations, write goals, recommend services)

-Complete IEP progress reports on each student

-Consult regularly with classroom teachers & special education teachers.

-Participate in building and special education staff meetings.
