Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Reading Teacher to join our team at Wooster Middle School. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a love of reading and literacy among students, encouraging them to develop critical thinking and comprehension skills. This full-time position requires a creative educator who can engage students in meaningful learning experiences and support their academic growth in a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging reading curriculum and lesson plans that align with state standards and meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Assess students’ reading abilities and progress through regular evaluations and observations, providing feedback to students and parents.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love of reading.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources, including technology, to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administration to support a comprehensive literacy program and promote cross-curricular connections.
  • Provide individualized support and interventions for students who may be struggling with reading skills.
  • Organize and participate in literacy events, book fairs, and reading challenges to promote a culture of reading within the school community.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s development and achievements.
  • Stay current with best practices in reading instruction and participate in professional development opportunities.
Requirements
  • CT Teaching Certification 102 required, 097 preferred.
