Job summary

Worcester State University is seeking tutors for the America Reads & America Counts program. Tutors will work with kindergarten through sixth-grade students to improve reading and math proficiency, primarily in one-on-one settings, with collaboration from supervisors and teachers.

Hours are based on student class schedules, with an average of 4–5 hours per week. The position is available to Worcester State University students only and pays $15 per hour.

Qualifications

• Excellent people skills and enthusiasm for helping children.
• Ability to work one-on-one with a child within a group context.
• Attention to detail in paperwork and prompt arrival/departure to school.
• Strong reading and math skills and willingness to share your love of reading/math.

Responsibilities

• Tutor kindergarten through sixth grade to improve reading and math proficiency.
• Work one-on-one, small groups, or with class activities.
• Collaborate with supervisors, teachers, and afterschool coordinators to assess needs.
• Be punctual and professional as a positive role model inside and outside the classroom.
