Job summary

Summit Elementary School in Charlottesville is seeking a Reading Interventionist (hourly) for the 2026-2027 school year to provide targeted instruction and tutoring in RtI contexts.

The role reports to building administration; duties include data-driven decisions with IARS teams, maintaining a caseload of students, and collaborating across grade levels to support at-risk learners.

The position is non-exempt, up to 20 hours per week, with pay of $25 per hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a job-related area required or eligible for Virginia teaching license.
• Valid Virginia teaching license eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide research-based, direct instruction and tutoring support for individuals and in small intervention groups.
• Work collaboratively with the school-wide and grade IARS team on the appropriate use of data in making educational decisions.
• Maintain a caseload of students receiving instructional interventions as determined by the building administration.
• Attend Intervention Specialist meetings and share pertinent information with building administration and IARS teams.
• Follow IARS guidelines and procedures.
