Job summary

Old Sturbridge Academy Charter Public School & Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Grade 5–6, October through December 2026. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid MA DESE educator license required — Special Education, Elementary, or Literacy/Reading Specialist licensure strongly preferred.
• Background in special education and/or structured literacy instruction with small-group intervention experience.
• Familiarity with evidence-based reading intervention programs (e.g., Wilson, Fundations, RAVE-O).
• Experience with grades 4–8 and students with IEPs and reading disabilities.
• Ability to use assessment data to form instructional groups and adjust instruction.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and communicate with colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily small-group reading intervention sessions for Grade 5–6 using structured literacy approaches.
• Deliver targeted instruction in decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
• Use assessment data to guide instructional decisions within groups.
• Maintain records of participation, progress, and response to intervention.
• Communicate with classroom teachers and intervention coordinator about progress and concerns.
