Job summary

Melvindale Northern Allen Park Public Schools in Allendale Elementary School seeks an Independence Paraprofessional to support Kindergarten through 3rd grade readers. Qualifications

• 60 credit hours or PRAXIS required.
• Experience working with elementary students.
• UFLI experience or LETRS training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct small group tutoring sessions using scripted, evidence-based literacy strategies.
• Assist children in improving reading skills to meet grade level expectations.
• Assess and track students' progress using designated benchmarks and progress monitoring.
• Document weekly progress scores and strategies in the district online database.
• Review data with coaches to adjust literacy strategies as needed.
• Prepare lesson plans reflecting Science of Reading best practices for individual learners.
• Maintain compliance with Title I program requirements and documentation.
• Communicate progress with reading interventionist and classroom teachers.
• Participate in professional development on Science of Reading and foundational skills.
• Monitor students during arrival/dismissal to ensure safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
