Job summary

Learning à la Carte in the DMV area seeks educators to deliver multisensory math and structured literacy during the school day and after school. The role requires experience with neurodivergent learners and collaboration with school staff.

You will plan, deliver instruction, monitor progress, maintain documentation, and travel between Bethesda, NW DC and VA locations. Subcontractor position with competitive compensation based on MSM and ELA certifications.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching multisensory math to K-12 neurodivergent students.
• Strong background in ELA instruction for language-based learning needs (dyslexia, etc.).
• Familiar with multisensory, explicit, structured instruction in both subjects.
• Excellent communication, patience, and ability to differentiate instruction.
• Reliable travel to schools in the DMV.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and monitor multisensory instruction aligned with best practices (Concrete-Representational-Abstract, explicit language, manipulatives).
• Provide ELA instruction using Science of Reading/Orton-Gillingham methodologies: reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary.
• Assess students’ current levels, track progress, and adjust instruction.
• Collaborate with school staff / teachers as needed.
• Maintain documentation: lesson plans, progress reports, communication with families.

Learning a la Carte is a full service tutoring company that serves neurodivergent and neurotypical students and families across the DMV. We are seeking highly skilled educators to support students during the school day and after school hours. We are seeking a math and reading specialist who can support students during the day and after school in Bethesda, NW DC and VA.Please DO NOT apply if you do not have specific training and experience to support students in structured literacy and or math.

• Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, deliver, and monitor multisensory instruction instruction aligned with best practices (i.e. Concrete-Representational-Abstract sequence, explicit language, manipulatives).
• Provide ELA instruction using the Science of Reading/Orton-Gillingham methodologies: reading (fluency, comprehension, decoding / phonics), writing, grammar, vocabulary.
• Assess students’ current levels, track progress, and adjust instruction.
• Collaborate with school staff / teachers as needed.
• Maintain documentation: lesson plans, progress reports, communication with families.
• Required QualificationsExperience teaching Multisensory Math to neurodivergent students grades K-12.
• Strong background in ELA instruction, especially for students with language-based learning needs (dyslexia, etc.).
• Comfortable with multisensory, explicit, structured instruction in both subjects.
• Excellent communication, patience, and ability to differentiate instruction.
• Reliable travel / transportation to schools in the DMV.
• Preferred QualificationsResidency in the DMV area (DC / MD / VA).
• Flexibility & availability both during school hours and after school.
• Formal training or certification in Multisensory Math/Orton-Gilliingham/Science of Reading instruction.
• Experience with remedial reading and comprehension techniques and strategies (e.g., structured literacy, explicit comprehension strategy instruction, intervention methods).
• Working Conditions & Compensation Subcontractor position (not direct employee).
• Flexible schedule combining in-school and after-school hours.
