Qualifications

• Must be a current or previously licensed K-12 teacher in good standing.
• Certification or significant training in multi-sensory reading/learning programs OR an advanced degree focused on Special Education.
• Experience with neurodivergent students (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, ADHD, Autism, PDA).
• Daytime availability 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, Monday–Friday during the 2026–2027 MCPS year.
• Reliable vehicle and ability to travel to in-person sessions in Montgomery County.

Job description

Are you a passionate educator who excels at connecting with students who learn and think differently? We are seeking a dedicated, current or former licensed teacher to provide highly specialized, multi-sensory academic support and organizational skills for upper elementary, middle, and high school students in Montgomery County (MCPS).

This is a hybrid position (a mix of online and in-home sessions) requiring local travel for in-home sessions. You will work with a small, dedicated caseload of 2 to 5 families, helping students navigate learning disabilities (LD), neurodivergence (including ADHD, AuDHD, Autism, PDA), and/or autoimmune disorders.

Key Responsibilities

• Multi-Subject, Multi-Level Instruction: Provide tailored academic support across multiple subjects. This includes breaking down complex teacher instructions and teaching writing across all high school subjects (e.g., guiding a student through a Biology lab report).


• Curriculum Implementation: Deliver a curated curriculum designed by our third-party partner company, adapting tools and pulling resources on the spot to meet the students' real-time needs.


• Study Skills, Learning Skills, & Strategy: Teach study skills, time management, and project management strategies to help students successfully manage their workloads.


• Collaboration & Progress Tracking: Dedicate 10–60 minutes weekly (paid at an admin rate) to log progress with our third-party partner company. Attend initial onboarding meetings and quarterly (marking period) check-ins with the homeschool curator.


• Family Partnership: Maintain strong, empathetic, and professional communication with parents. Maintain an inclusive, flexible approach when working in homes with students experiencing Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) or strict health/hygiene protocols due to autoimmune disorders.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Licensure: Must be a current or previously licensed K-12 teacher in good professional standing (with a history of strong performance and professional integrity).


• Specialized Training: Certification or significant training in multi-sensory reading/learning programs (e.g., Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, IMSE, Barton, Lindamood-Bell) OR an M.Ed / Doctorate with a heavy focus on Special Education.


• Experience: Proven experience working with neurodivergent students (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, ADHD, Autism, PDA, etc.,).


• Schedule & Commitment: Ability to commit to 2–3 regular students for the entire 2026–2027 MCPS school year (August 2026 – June 2027). Must have daytime availability between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday (note: you will not work this full window, but sessions occur during these hours).


• Transportation: Must have a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and be willing to drive to in-person sessions within Montgomery County.


• Bonus: Familiarity with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) curriculum and structure.
