Job summary

City of Richmond Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Technician for the Read with Ripple program. The role emphasizes customer service, literacy support, and collaboration with schools, daycares, and volunteers to promote early literacy across Richmond.

The position supports program development, materials preparation, and outreach activities under supervision. A strong focus on communication, teamwork, and training volunteers is essential for success.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of public library related support or library outreach experience.
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience may be accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Read with Ripple Program as directed by the Program Coordinator.
  • Develop, implement, and support program services for Read with Ripple.
  • Aid, update, and develop program materials, including lesson plans as approved by the Program Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with supervisor in selecting Read with Ripple books and materials.
  • Assist in recruiting and scheduling volunteers for book distribution, reading, and related activities.
  • Develop materials for parents and children to support reading at home.
  • Work with childcare centers and community partners to organize reading and book distributions.
  • May participate in library-wide committees or projects.
