Freelance Site Engineer - Setting Out (BPSS)

Location: Sizewell C, Suffolk

Contract: Freelance / Contract

Duration: Long-term

Start Date: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for an experienced

Site Engineer to join a major construction project at

Sizewell C, Suffolk, working on a desalination plant package.

The successful candidate will have strong

site engineering and setting-out experience and will be comfortable working within a large-scale, highly regulated construction environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects and gain further experience within the nuclear sector.

The Role

As Site Engineer, you will provide technical and engineering support to the site team, with a particular focus on

setting out, dimensional control and ensuring construction works are delivered accurately and in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Setting out works accurately using Total Station, GPS/GNSS and other surveying equipment.
  • Providing day-to-day engineering support to the Site Manager and construction teams.
  • Checking levels, coordinates, alignments and dimensions.
  • Interpreting construction drawings, specifications and technical information.
  • Undertaking as-built surveys and maintaining accurate records.
  • Establishing and maintaining site control points and benchmarks.
  • Working closely with subcontractors to ensure works are constructed correctly and to specification.
  • Carrying out quality checks and identifying any engineering issues or discrepancies.
  • Assisting with site measurements, quantities and technical documentation.
  • Maintaining accurate site records and reporting progress.
  • Supporting the delivery of works in accordance with project health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
Requirements
  • Proven experience working as a

Site Engineer on major construction, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

  • Strong

setting-out experience is essential.

Total Stations, GPS/GNSS and surveying equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Relevant Civil Engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working on major infrastructure or regulated projects is highly desirable.

Existing UK nuclear security clearance is essential.

  • Previous experience on a UK nuclear project would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a large site-based engineering team.
Nuclear Clearance

Candidates must already hold valid UK nuclear security clearance.

Previous clearance gained through working on UK nuclear projects may be considered, including experience at

Hinkley Point C, Sizewell B, Sellafield or other UK nuclear facilities, subject to the relevant project requirements and verification.
