Job summary

Altrad is seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent for the Hinkley Point C project in Bridgwater, United Kingdom. The role involves a 10:45-hour shift pattern on a 10/4 cycle, with a start date to be confirmed. Pay rate is £36.37 basic per hour, with lodge and travel paid where applicable.

Overtime applies on non-working days at OT rates, and OT does not begin until the first full working week. The candidate will provide construction input during design and planning, oversee on-site

Qualifications

• Time served and NVQ educated in relevant Engineering Discipline.
• Demonstrable experience of managing small to medium scaled multi-disciplined projects.
• Extensive (10+ years) site construction experience in Oil & Gas, PetroChem or similar regulated industry.
• Understanding of engineering disciplines: Instrument, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil.
• Familiarity with CDM, Temporary Works, ATEX, Electricity at Work Regs.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills.
• SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely or CCNSG Safety passport card holder.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction input during design and planning phases.
• Participate in design and construction reviews.
• Prepare scope of works and participate in bid analysis and cost estimates.
• Support on-site management of construction works with Project Engineer.
• Coordinate site activities, including weekly labour allocations.
• Review and approve developed job cards and vendor paperwork.
• Ensure permits and controls are in place; manage risk assessments.
• Monitor contractor compliance and site safety performance.
• Communicate progress to Project Scheduler and stakeholders.

Job description

This advert is to register your interest for future positions expected to become available at HPC. Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Superintendents to join the team at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom for the ongoing project.

This role will involve working 10:45-hour shifts on a 10/4 shift pattern, with start date to be confirmed. The position is paid under ECSA agreements, with lodge and travel paid where applicable. Pay rate: £36.37 basic/h. Possible opportunity to work on a non-working day at OT rates. Overtime will not come into effect until your first full working week.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide construction input during design and planning phases of projects.
• Actively participate in design and construction reviews.
• Prepare scope of works and participate in bid analysis of 3rd party tenders and in house term contractor cost estimates.
• Provide input into the development of project cost estimates and execution programmes.
• Supporting the Project Engineer with the on-site management of construction works.
• Initiate and monitor site construction activities including involvement in weekly labour allocations.
• Review and approval of developed job cards.
• Ensure all vendor paperwork is in place prior to the execution of the works including facilitation of risk assessments and TJSA’s where necessary.
• Liaising with the Ops team to ensure permits and operational controls are in place.
• Monitoring construction contractor compliance with site working requirements and safety performance.
• Monitoring site progress and efficiency/productivity.
• Main point of contact and liaison between construction contractors and Teesside Operations.
• Proactive coordination of the project construction activities with diligent control of any modifications / changes during construction through the management of change process, in compliance with site standards and current legislation.
• Analysis of construction problems with input to providing solutions for issues.
• Prioritisation of reactive emergent work requested by operations.
• Contribute to risks reviews and risk assessments.
• Where required attend vendor FAT’s and provide quality assurance for construction activities.
• Support the completions process including the CoR & COF Processes plus PSSR walk downs and punch list items.
• Feeding back daily and weekly progress to the Project Scheduler.

Key Qualifications
